This year marks the 15th anniversary of Small Business Saturday, and we’re so excited to support our local businesses! On November 30, the day after Black Friday, it’s all about “shopping small” and showing love to the businesses that make our South Carolina communities feel like home.

As a local small business ourselves, South Carolina Insurance Brokers is all about investing in our neighbors and supporting our community. Now, while we don’t expect you to be shopping for insurance on Small Business Saturday (but hey, you’re always welcome to!), we’re hoping you’ll join us in patronizing some of our favorite local small businesses.

  1. Moretti’s Pizzeria & Bar
Founded in 2000, this local, family-owned restaurant brings authentic Buffalo-style cuisine to South Carolina. The pizzas and pasta are to die for, the wings are finger-licking good, and the Buffalo Fish Fry is something everyone needs to try. Ever heard of Beef on Weck? No? Well, it’s the best sandwich EVER. This cozy joint in Mauldin will comfort even the most homesick New Yorker!

  2. Red, White & Brew Coffee
Located in the heart of Six Mile, RWB Coffee is all about sharing their love for this nation and its number one morning beverage! They brew up a delicious array of house and specialty coffees, all with patriotic flare! The coffee shop is located in an old fire house and really delivers a one of a kind personalized experience. Weather permitting, you must try the patio! Not only are the coffees and teas amazing, their food is equally delicious. And you can’t leave without some merch…Liberty and COFFEE for all!

  3. CrossFit Potentia
Okay, CrossFit can sound intimidating. Not to worry! CrossFit Potentia in Greenville makes it approachable and personalized to your fitness level and experience. From ages 8 to 98, Potentia has created a community of people who are focused on becoming the most functionally fit people around. The coaches are passionate, caring and extremely dedicated to helping everyone maximize their potential through exercise and nutrition.

  4. Silver Salon
Silver Salon is a gorgeous salon that is truly one of the best in upstate South Carolina. Spearheaded by Carolina locals, Erin Silver and her husband, Silver Salon is the place to go. They realize that your experience from reservation to check out  is just as important as the cut and color. They really listen and the stylists create personalized looks that support your lifestyle and personality. I highly recommend Silver. They’re just nice, friendly, talented and passionate for folks who care.

  5. 82 Queen
“Quintessentially Lowcountry. Simply Delicious.” If you truly want to get a Charleston culinary experience, you have to go to 82 Queen! Three local foodies created this unique restaurant in the Historic French Quarter, out of three gorgeous buildings and a garden courtyard. The menu is influenced by the African, French, Caribbean and Anglo-Saxon tastes. 82 Queen’s fusion of these culturally diverse flavors led to the rise of a culinary genre that had been previously undefined – and is now referred to as “Lowcountry Cuisine”. Even with all the restaurants to choose from in Charleston, this is one of my favorites. The food is always unique and yummy, and the service is exceptional.

  6. Aspen Street Sweets
Ready for a life-changing dessert experience? This food truck is your ride to flavortown! The menu consists primarily of gourmet fun funnel cakes, cheesecakes, and shave ice sweet treats (Aspen’s favorite!). Make sure you try the fried chicken and funnel cake (a unique spin on chicken and waffles), maple bacon cheesecake (yes, it’s a thing and, no, you’ll never forget it!), and their award-winning Cinnabon Funnel Cake. This little food truck was started by a local couple who wanted to spend more time with their preemie baby, Aspen, who is now a thriving toddler. They live local, love local and literally cater to locals.

  7. Blues Boulevard Jazz
After almost 5 years of success in Spartanburg, Blues Boulevard brought its upscale blues and jazz format to Greenville. A gorgeous, newly designed, contemporary venue, Blues features LIVE acts every Thursday through Sunday. Jazz and blues, both local and national, right in the heart of Greenville (or Spartanburg).Their speciality drinks and a menu of artfully created tapas and entrées make this a great place to enjoy a unique night out.

  8. Stella’s Southern Bistro
Ever heard of a “locavore?” Me neither…till we found Stella’s. The menu is designed around local ingredients and driven by seasonal availability guaranteeing that South Carolina’s freshest ingredients are front and center on the mouthwatering menu. The Southern Appetizer Platter (deviled eggs, pimento cheese, bacon jam AND fried okra!), shrimp and grits, and the entire dessert menu. YUM! It’s been called the very best restaurant in Simpsonville and that’s not just because of the food; the service is equally stellar. It’s clear they love taking care of folks. Located near Greenville, in Simpsonville, Stella’s is close to the beach and Main Street. Do yourself a favor and go!
