It’s that time of year. Turkey Day. For us, Thanksgiving is about more than football, black Friday, and stuffing our faces — it’s about gratitude, good food, and the people who make every day a little brighter.

So this year, we asked our team to share their favorite Thanksgiving recipes, memories, and traditions. Because whether you’re hosting family dinner, tailgating after the Turkey Day game, or escaping to the coast for oysters, we’re all celebrating the same thing — togetherness.

Angela’s  “Pie-athlon” Tradition

My favorite family tradition is eating lunch at my parents’ house. It’s my parents, 5 siblings and their families, and my group of 4. There are a lot of us! There is so much food we all bring leftover containers to carry some home for dinner that evening. My mom makes 15-20 pumpkin and pecan pies so that each of her children get to take home at least 2 of their favorites. Then me, my husband and our two children go to the tree farm and select our Christmas tree. We have so much fun picking out a tree and getting it in the house to decorate. This is my favorite time of year and I’m so very thankful for my family.

I’m also very thankful for my work family. We work hard but we have a truly caring group that lifts and supports each other. They are an amazing group of people, and I’m blessed to have them in my life. I say a special thank you to God above for our families, our health, our jobs, and the blessings he hands out so generously every day. Happy Thanksgiving!

Dakota’s Sweet (Potatoes) Tooth

My favorite Thanksgiving food is sweet potato casserole. It’s canned sweet potatoes mixed with brown sugar and butter and topped with marshmallows. You cook it all together in the oven until the marshmallows are brown.”

Sharon’s Family, in Spades

What makes Thanksgiving special to me is my family gathering to eat, play, have fun and fellowship one with another. We play Spades the card game at our Thanksgiving gathering. It keeps us awake after eating too much of  Aunt Naomi’s dressing and gravy — my favorite!
